WILLIAMS 2019 HERITAGE DAY

May 3rd 2019, 4pm-7pm

Theme: Costumes Across the World

2019 Heritage Day Chair : Amethyst Ma

Festivities kick off with the Principals address and Pledge of Allegiance led by our Cub Scouts, followed by a series of spectacular multi-cultural performances, by Williams students, including some beautiful singing by the Williams Choir. To add to the festivity, will be booths representing various cultures from across the world. You can represent any culture, or part of the world you want!  Do stop by each booth and sample their cuisine.  Students, get your passports stamped at every booth/country. Once your passport is complete and stamped by each booth, get your ice-cream, and a get-out-of-homework pass!! Feel free to come dressed in any traditional attire, or just your everyday wear. The fun doesn’t stop till the very end…be there for Dr Blizzards surprise Grand Finale!

Exciting new additions this year, including a Photo Booth and Puppet Bag Art Project.

You can represent any culture, or part of the world you want this Year!

PUPPET BAG ART PROJECT

Here's something exciting for students to do in the weeks leading up to Heritage Day.
Let your creativity bloom using recycled and reusable materials to make paper puppets dressed in a national, cultural, or just any type of attire of your choice. For details, see Puppet Bag Art Project.

STAGE PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

Performances - Will be held on an outdoor stage. Each team will get 2 to 5 minutes to showcase their talent/culture/costumes- this could be a small dance, a skit, a fashion show, or even just a song in any language. Duets or solo's are also welcome. Even a small 2-3 minutes item is welcome. Do come out and participate!

Music - If you have music for your performance, please email the music ( .mp3 or .wav files) or burn it on a CD and drop it off in the office 2 weeks before Heritage Day. Your music will need to be tested on the school music system to make sure it works well. We are UNABLE to play songs off Youtube or off your phone. Your music MUST be given to the Performance Coordinator a week prior.

Stage - Dimensions are 12ft x 16ft. If you think you may have more kids than the stage can accommodate, please let the Performance Coordinator know ahead of time, so we can create room and plan to have them perform on the ground.

Time Slot - To be fair, performances are in alphabetical order (sorted by Region/Group names) in the first half, and in reverse alphabetical order, in the 2nd half (after the Choir performs).  Please be available close to stage well before time.
General Schedule - Dr Blizzard's Opening remarks at 4:30 pm
This will be followed immediately by the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by songs led by the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts at Williams. This will be followed by the rest of the performances. Our school choir will also perform. Choir students who are in costume, can please go ahead and sing with the choir. They do NOT need to change to choir/school uniform. All are welcome to come in traditional wear if they would like to. Don't miss our grand finale led by Dr Blizzard and ..... They ask that you all be present, just bring your smiles and join the beat! :)
